2024 Brand Ambassadors

Brooke Nixon is a proud Carroll County native and honors graduate from Christopher Newport University where she received degrees in Computer Information Science and Psychology. She is currently a graduate student at Wake Forest University in the Experimental Psychology program where she researches human-computer interaction.

Brooke’s academic research in developmental psychology and human-computer interaction has been presented at over 20 regional, national, and international conferences, and she has co-authored four articles in peer-reviewed academic journals including the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology and the Journal of Language and Social Psychology. Her passion for cybersecurity has led her to work with prestigious organizations including the State Employees Credit Union, United States Navy, and Department of Justice.

In 2019, Brooke founded an initiative called #Tech-Telligence that aims to promote cyber safety and make technical literacy more accessible for all people. Through partnerships ranging from local government to national organizations such as the Girl Scouts of the USA, her Tech-telligence presentations have reached hundreds of students across the country.

Miss Carroll County’s Teen is Jayla Thomas.
While she currently lives by the Chesapeake Bay in Somerset County, she shares a love for the hills of Carroll County having grown up around the hills of Luray, Virginia. She has grown up riding horses and dancing, later becoming a competitive barrel racer and competitive dancer. In her free time, she enjoys spending time on the water, as she received her boating license before her drivers license!

Jayla is a home educated Junior with hopes of one day attending the University of Alabama to pursue a career in Dermatology or Psychology. Having been bullied for skin issues, she finds her greatest passion in life to help others in these ways.

Jayla’s Community Service Initiative is "Face the Bull in Bullying". This initiative targets young girls as the leading cause for poor mental health in this demographic is from bullying. Jayla has traveled to numerous Elementary schools, teaching girls how to identify their “bull” so they can best “lasso a solution” to help overcome the bullying in one’s life.

Raegan Fisher was born and raised in Carroll County, in a small town called Union Bridge where she spent most of her childhood participating in 4‑H showing and raising livestock from her family’s farm.

Raegan is an 18 year old freshman attending Florida Atlantic University majoring in Political Science on the pre law track. Raegan aspires to one day become pursue the Criminal Law field while practicing Litigation and arbitration through her legal experience. In addition, Raegan has hopes to provide pro-bono services as a “Best Interest” lawyer, where she will be able to advocate for foster care youth and orphaned children.

Her Community Service Initiative is “Life in a Trashbag: Restoring Dignity and Hope to Foster Care Youth”. Over the past year, Raegan has raised over $5,000 for her initiative and has used those funds to deliver “Belonging Bags” to children who are currently enrolled in the Maryland Foster Care Programs across the state.

Tess Bond is a Frostburg, Maryland native and is currently a Freshman at Mountain Ridge High School where she serves as a Miner’s Cheerleader and flyer! She is also an Honor Roll student and was chosen as the student choreographer and dance captain for a Jr. musical for the past two years.

As an avid animal lover, Tess aspires to one day attend an Ivy League university and pursue her doctorate’s degree in veterinary medicine. This passion for animals sparked her Community Service Initiative, "Project: It’s So Fluffy". This initiative empowers people of all ages to aid in the awareness and prevention of animal cruelty so that no furry friends have to face a life of abuse!

In her free time, Tess enjoys spending time with her three spoiled rotten cats, eating lots of spicy food, going on camping trips with her family, and listening to 80’s rock music, especially “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns and Roses.

Kennedy Taylor was recently named Miss Maryland 2023. She was previously Miss Maryland's (Outstanding) Teen 2012, and Top 10 Finalist at the 2013 Miss America's (Outstanding) Teen Competition. Kennedy is a 26 year old Cybersecurity Consultant from Silver Spring, Maryland and a graduate of Georgetown University with a Master of Professional Studies in Cybersecurity Risk Management. Kennedy's Community Service Initiative is CyberSafe Kids, which emphasizes educating youth on internet safety and security skills they need to stay safe online.

Formerly our Miss Carroll County's Teen 2023, Rachel Spencer won the hearts of the judges and became Miss Maryland's Teen 2023. As a brand ambassador of our state, she will represent Maryland at the Miss America's Teen Competition next year. Rachel’s Community Service Initiative is Sprinkles Of Love. In 2019, she founded Sprinkles Of Love (SOL) an organization whose Motto is to “Throw Kindness around like Confetti”! The mission of Sprinkles Of Love is to encourage youth to volunteer in their communities by sharing her service journey, highlighting the service of others, and Passion2Project initiative.

Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old second lieutenant in the US Air Force and master’s student at the Harvard Kennedy School’s public policy program, emerged victorious at the 2024 Miss America competition in Orlando, Florida. Madison, representing the state of Colorado, is the first active-duty Air Force officer ever to receive the national title. Graduating from the USAFA in with a degree in Physics, focusing on Astronomy, Marsh will receive a $60,000 scholarship as Miss America and will immediately begin her reign for one year.

Hanley House was crowned Miss America’s Teen 2024 in Orlando, Florida. Hanley was the recipient of both the evening gown and fitness preliminary competitions, garnering $6,000 in scholarships ahead of the pageant’s final. As part of her winning prize package, she will receive the option of a $60,000 scholarship or a 4-year scholarship to the University of Alabama.
